Ada grew up on a farm and graduated from Beloit High School. She learned the value of hard work at an early age, and worked as a child care provider to pay her way through school and attended Brown-Mackie Business College in Salina, Kansas.
It was on May 19, 1940 that she married Orville Robert Hill. Two children, Madonna and Larry were born to this union. They lived on a farm for several years in the Glen Elder area until a drought in the mid 1950's forced them to move into Glen Elder, and in August, 1956 moved to Wichita where Orville became employed at Boeing and Ada worked out of the home doing washing, ironing, and childcare. Later, she began working for Curtis Jr. High School as a cake/pie maker and server; making 20 to 25 pies and cakes for each day. She retired in 1976. Orville died in 2001.
Always happy, Ada enjoyed life. She and her husband enjoyed people and enjoyed membership in the Odd Fellows and Rebecca Lodge. She loved to sew, and early on made dresses for Madonna from flour and chicken feed sacks, later made clothing for her grandchildren and even made a wedding dress for her grandson Quinn Smith's bride.
She was a member of the Glen Elder Christian Church.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gerald Stewart and wife Alberta, Arnold Stewart, and one grandson Quinn Smith.
