Ada Jean Trueblood was born on June 18, 1920 on the family farm south of Cawker City, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Harriett West Roberts. She died Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Downs Care and Rehabilitation Center in Downs, Kansas at the age of 97 years and 7 months.
On August 4, 1940, Jean was united in marriage with Herbert H. Trueblood at the Cawker City Baptist parsonage. Two children were born to this union. After their marriage, they lived in Glen Elder, before moving to a farm southwest of Glen Elder in 1942. In 1954, the family moved to a farm northeast of Cawker City, before moving to town in 1979. They were privileged to spend more than 63 years of marriage together until his death in September, 2003.
Jean stayed active in the community, serving on the Outlook Club and HDU, and was very involved in the Friends Church, where she served on the Missionary Society and taught Sunday School for many years.
In addition to her husband Herbert, she was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers George, Dwight, and Dean Roberts.
Jean is survived by her daughter Roberta Schlaefli and husband Jim of Downs; her son Harry Trueblood and wife Margaret of Russell; brothers Lloyd Roberts of Enid, Oklahoma and Donald Roberts of Salina; three grandchildren, Steven Trueblood and his son Isaak, Shannon Schlaefli and wife Jeri and son Sage, and Robin Winkel and husband Brett and their children Trystan and Terin.
