Alan Dean Heidrick was born on Good Friday, April 12, 1963 in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Jerry Dean and Marlene Shay Heidrick. He died unexpectedly on Monday, April 3, 2006 in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 42 years, 11 months, and 21 days.
He grew up on the family farm near Glasco, and graduated from Glasco High School in 1981. Following graduation, he attended Cloud County Community College, and earned an Associates Degree. He continued his graduate studies at McPherson College, and earned his MBA from Emporia State University.
Alan was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed collecting various sports memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Alan is survived by his mother and step-father, Marlene and Verle Grittman of Glasco; one step-grandmother, Doii Shay of Minneapolis; one brother, Andy Heidrick of Salina; one step-brother, David Grittman and his wife Nicole and their children Morgan and Makinze of Enterprise; one step-sister, Ruth Ann Zimmer and her husband Kevin and their children Kassie and Ashlyn of LaCrosse; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, April 7, at the Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the Dean Funeral Home in Glasco.
