Alberta H. Stewart

Alberta Hilda Stewart was born on March 23, 1922 in Paradise, Kansas, the daughter of Albert J. and Myrtle Doggett Miller. She died on Saturday, March 15, 2008 in the Mitchell County Hospital Long Term Care Unit at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 23 days.
She grew up and spent most of her childhood in the Beloit area, where she attended grade school and high school.
On August 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to Gerald A. Stewart in Beloit. This union was blessed with three children, Marilyn, Maxine, and Dennis.
Following their marriage, Alberta and Gerald lived on a farm in the Barnard community. They were blessed to spend nearly 55 years of married life together until his death in June 1995.
Alberta loved her children, and greatly enjoyed taking care of her family. She loved the outdoors, and spent much time gardening, raising flowers, as well as mowing, which was a special passion. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and square dancing.
Alberta was a member of the former Lincoln Presbyterian Church, was the President of the Lincoln School Mother's Club, the United Presbyterian Women, and the Post Rock Promenaders.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ernest Miller; and two sisters, Gloria Lloyd and Jean Caplinger.
Alberta is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Myers and her husband Larry of Little River, Kansas, and Maxine Ross and her husband Tweed of Manhattan; one son, Dennis Stewart and his wife Brenda of Beloit; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, March 21 at the McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial in Round Springs Cemetery near Hunter. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6-7:30 PM. Memorials may be given to the Long Term Care Courtyard Fund.
