Alex Edward Studer was born at the Mitchell County Hospital on April 9, 1988 to the proud parents of Mark and Kerry (Thierolf) Studer, and departed this life on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the age of 20 years, 2 months, and 11 days as the result of an automobile accident. He became an organ donor so that some good might come from this tragedy. He was a lifelong resident of Beloit, and graduated from Beloit High School in 2006.
Alex was involved all four years of high school with various sports – football, basketball, and track. His senior year he went to the Kansas State High School 3-A Track and Field Meet and placed 6th, was a member of the Black Shirts, and was initiated into the National Honor Society his senior year.
Alex was a student at Kansas State University in Manhattan, where he had completed his second year. He was asked to join Sigma Alpha Lambda, an honor society at Kansas State.
Alex's love to hunt and fish was fostered at a very young age. He spent many hours fishing and hunting by his father's side. He spent many hours outdoors doing something he loved – fishing and hunting in the lakes and rivers around Mitchell County with many of his cousins, high school friends, and new found college friends.
Left to mourn his passing are his immediate family, his mother Kerry Benson and husband Jeff, his father Mark Studer, and one brother Joseph Studer; his grandparents, Judd and Judy Thierolf and Sally and Gordon File, all of Beloit; and a very special friend, Jessica Palen of Tipton; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, Tami and Dan Pruitt of Beloit, Nicole and Mike McLain of Wichita, Bradley and Jeffrey Pruitt of Beloit, Grant and Deanna Thierolf, Matthew, Kaelyn, and Connor of Marion, Yvonne and Kent Melton, Derrick and Brett of Beloit, Valorie and Matthew Quiring and Riley of Bradshaw, Nebraska, Connie and Tim Hager, Alison and Braden of Beloit, Ronda and Darrell Mishler, Jason Sigle and family, John and Jennifer Huehl and family of Sylvan Grove, Jill Sigle of Lawrence, and Jera and Doug Kressley and family of Lucas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Beloit First Christian Church followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Joe Studer Educational Fund.
