Arleen Pearson
Beulah Arleen Pearson, the sixth of eight children born to William Herman and Jennie Kuiken Borger, entered this life on August 16, 1923 on a farm in Jewell County, Kansas. She departed this life of 90 years, 2 months and 14 days early Wednesday morning, October 30, 2013 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas.
A 1941 graduate of Athens Rural High School, Arleen, as she was known by all, lived much of her life in the Beloit area. On April 15, 1943 she married Robert Lee "Bob" Pearson at the Simpson Baptist Church. Three children Beverly, Rodney, and Bradley were born to this happy union.
Besides being a homemaker, she worked as a telephone operator for about five years, later Duckwalls, and finally as a shipping specialist for the Professional Photographers Color Corporation.
A kind, hospitable and people loving person, Arleen loved her home. She was always friendly and quick witted. She enjoyed cooking; making salsa and chili were two of her specialties. One of her favorite pastimes was watching all of the elementary school children arrive at school every morning. Arleen enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and gin rummy with her many friends. She also enjoyed working out in her yard and tending to her flowers.
Arleen was a devoted member of First Christian Church. She coordinated funeral dinners for many years and enjoyed attending the Metallic Bible Study.
In addition, Arleen was a longtime member of the Qui Bene Club, a 50 year member of the Naomi Chapter #28 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a charter member of the Beloit County Club.
Her husband Robert died in 1997. In addition, Arleen was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Beverly Mountz, sisters Nola Borger & Thelma Hendricks; brothers Eldon, Kenneth, and James Borger.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her sons Rod Pearson of Beloit, Brad Pearson of Kansas City, MO; son-in-law Wade Mountz and wife Charlotte of Colorado Springs, CO; one brother Dwight Borger and wife Joyce of Lenexa, KS; one sister Bonnie Slate and husband Virgil of Glen Elder; two brothers-in-law Dean Pearson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Wilbur Pearson of Simpson; two sisters-in-law Dorothy Borger of Beloit, Melva Lush of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one grandson Scott Mountz and wife Miranda, one great grandchild Scotty Mountz, and a host of many relatives and friends.
