Arnold Duane Stewart was born September 22, 1923 to Arthur and Sarah Emmot Stewart on a farm near Hunter, Kansas. He departed this life of 84 years, 7 months, and 25 days on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
He grew up in the country on his parents' farm and attended grade school through the eighth grade at the school near his home. He then started farming with his brother and father in the family farm.
Arnold met Barbara Wehrer while roller skating in Beloit and were married six years later on June 5, 1947. To this union, one son Michael was born. They lived on the farm for over 50 years farming, raising cattle and also had dairy cows and hogs.
Besides his love of farming, Arnold liked cards and visiting with the neighbors. He and Barbara loved to dance and were regulars at most dances, especially those at the Bohemian Hall near Glasco. Arnold also took time off to enjoy all of Mike's sporting events and those of his grandsons. Although he retired from farming years ago, his love for the farm never ceased and he stayed active helping until his health declined two years ago.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Gerald Stewart, and one grandson Eric Stewart.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Barbara of the home; his son Mike Stewart and wife Shirley of Barnard; one sister Ada Hill of Wichita; one grandson Matt Stewart and wife Holli of Hunter, and two great grandchildren Raegen and Gage Stewart.
