Barbara N. Ernsbarger was born on July 12, 1939, the daughter of Emery and Maxine Sheets Yenni in Concordia, Kansas. She died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 28 days.
She spent her whole life in and around Glasco, where she grew up, attended school, and graduated from Glasco High School.
On December 28, 1957, she was united in marriage with Philip L. Ernsbarger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glasco. To this union, two sons and a daughter were born. They were privileged to spend more than 36 years of marriage together when Philip died in August of 1994.
For many years, she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at the elevator, secretary of the high school, and as a clerk at the grocery store. She also spent most of her life as a farm wife, and truly loved farming and the livestock.
Barbara also enjoyed sewing and reading in her spare time, as well as cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks basketball teams. And she always cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her son, Max and his wife Edell of Glasco, her daughter, Diane Hofflinger and her husband Loren of Glen Elder, and her son, Mark and his wife Debbie of Glasco; two sisters, Jeanne Yenni and Jo Rice, both of Salina; six grandchildren, Heather Croisant of Beloit, Ashley Ernsbarger of Salina, Megan Corber and her husband Bobby of Glasco, Lucas Ernsbarger of Salina, Josh Hofflinger of Downs, and Laura Hofflinger of Newton; six great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will take place at 11 AM Tuesday, December 16 at the Glasco Cemetery. Per her request, there will be no visitation, and her casket will remain closed. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice or Post Rock Humane Society.
