Barbara Jean (Wehrer) Stewart was born April 30, 1928 To Adrian and Jennie (Depoy) Wehrer near Cawker City.
At the age of 3, her mother passed away and she went to live with her grandparents, Sam and Alice Depoy. She attended and graduated from Beloit High School in 1945. She worked a short time at the Girls Industrial School as a secretary. She met Arnold and was married in June of 1947. They spent most of their lives on the family farm south of Beloit. Barbara was very involved in all aspects of farm life.
They had one son Mike in 1951. Throughout their years of hard work, they also enjoyed many good times at dances with friends and neighbors. They also were very involved in the sports and activities of Mike and their grandsons, Eric and Matthew.
They retired in Beloit in 1996. Barbara enjoyed living in town and having the opportunity to volunteer at the Library, Economy Shop, and the First Christian Church.
Shortly after Arnold passed away, Barbara moved to Hilltop Lodge, where she peacefully passed away at the age of 88 on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.
Barbara is survived by her son Mike and wife Shirley; grandson Matthew and wife Holli; and great grandchildren, Raegen, Gage, Grady, and Coulter. She was preceded in death by husband Arnold, and grandson Eric.
A graveside memorial service will be at 2 PM Monday, October 10 in Elmwood Cemetery of Beloit. Memorials may be given to the Port Library. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place & there will be no visitation.
