Barbara I. Stevenson Walters was born January 5, 1926 to George H. and Elizabeth M. Tieking Stevenson in Winthrop, Massachusetts. She departed this life on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the age of 87 years.
Barbara attended school in Concordia, Kansas where she graduated from high school in 1944. She worked for the Post Engineers at the Prisoner of War Camp as a Clerk-Typist.
On February 14, 1947, Barbara was united in marriage to J.W. (Walt) Walters of Washington, Kansas. Two children Carolyn and Richard were born to this union. In 1955, they moved to Beloit. In 1967, Barbara went to work for Professional Photographers Color Corporation as a processing machine technician and she remained in this position for nearly ten years.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years in November, 1997.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Quinn and husband Don of Phoenix, Arizona; son Richard Walters and wife Janet of Amarillo, Texas; brothers Jack Stevenson and wife Julie of Holdrege, Nebraska, Tom Stevenson and wife Diane of Moses Lake, Washington; sisters Mary Miller of Las Lunas, New Mexico, Margaret Smith of Moses Lake, Washington, Joan Seubert and husband Michael of Spokane, Washington; step granddaughters Heather Frizell of Midland, Texas, Lori Hollaway of Amarillo, Texas; two step great grandsons Mikeal and Chance Frizell, one step great granddaughter Kambry Hance, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, November 15, 2013 at the McDonald Funeral Home with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Hospital or First Christian church. Visitation will be from 10 AM until 8:00 PM Thursday at the McDonald Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 PM until 7:30 PM.
