Bernece Hope Harper, the daughter of Myrl Harold and Alvira Solkeld Wolfe, was born August 4, 1908 near Lyons, Kansas. She departed this life of 98 years Tuesday evening, September 26, 2006 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas.
Her father was a barber instructor. His job required that her family move around a great deal. She was currently the third oldest surviving alum of Lincoln High School. Bernece attended and graduated from Sterling College of Sterling, Kansas.
On February 16, 1930, she was united in marriage to Frederick Brown Harper at Junction City, Kansas. They made their home on a farm in the Glasco area for many years and later moved into Glasco. Fred died on June 1, 1975.
Bernece loved life. She had a very witty and savvy demeanor that always kept her young at heart. One of her favorite programs was 2 ½ Men. She loved teaching, and for many years taught piano lessons. Besides teaching, she enjoyed living on the farm. Bernece also loved dogs and for many years enjoyed the companionship of a collie.
She was a member of the Glasco United Methodist Church.
Her parents preceded her in death. In addition, was preceded in death by her husband Fred and one brother Emmit Wolfe.
Survivors are a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Glasco Cemetery in Glasco. Memorials may be given to the Glasco United Methodist Church or Nicol Home. There will be no visitation - the body was cremated.
