Beth E. Anderson

Beth Elaine Anderson was born December 13, 1934 to Vance Vernon and Mae Helen Francis Prewett on a farm south of Asherville, Kansas. She departed this life of 76 years, 6 months, and 26 days early Friday morning, July 8, 2011 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit after a brief illness.

Beth spent her childhood years on the family farm in the Green Mound community. She attended the Green Mound school and then graduated from Simpson High School in the Class of 1953.

After high school, she attended the Stormont-Vail Hospital School of Nursing in Topeka, Kansas for two years. She then returned to the Asherville community and for many years worked a Registered Nurse for Dr. Claude Harwood MD in Glasco and later at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit.

On October 7, 1956, she was united in marriage to Richard Anderson at First Presbyterian Church in Beloit. One son Jeff was born to this happy union. They made their home on the north side of Asherville.

A kind, gentle person, Beth enjoyed life. She was always very focused and sensitive to the needs of others.

She was a member of the former Green Mound Church of Christ.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, one son who died at birth; five sisters Carmen Gilmore, Charlotte Roderick, Martha Abercrombie-Jordan, Margaret Chapman, Jo Grace Gilbert; and two brothers James V. and Thomas E. "Gene" Prewett.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her husband Richard of the home, one son Jeff Anderson and wife Chris of Bishop, California; one sister Marianne Kinnett, Oxford, Ohio; one brother Vance R. "Bud" Prewett and wife Joyce of San Angelo, Texas and many friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Private burial of her ashes will be in Simpson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Post Rock Humane Society or the charity of the donor's choice. There be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A luncheon will be held at the Asherville Fire Station at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday.
