Betty June Easter, the daughter of Floyd H. and Lessie Miller Easter, was born at her parents' house near Randall, Kansas on June 7, 1927. She passed away at the Salina Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at the age of 79 years, 1 month, and 26 days.
Betty grew up in the Randall community and attended Randall Rural High School, graduating with the Class of 1945.
She married James J. Clawson on September 13, 1945, and to this union, two children were born, Lonnie Lee, who died June 20, 1999, and Carla Cae. That marriage was later dissolved.
Betty later married Duane McElroy on September 2, 1979. Through their union came three step-children, Ann, Dixie, and Travis.
She worked during high school for her father on the family farm, and later as a telephone operator in Jewell. She also owned and operated her own beauty salon, as well as co-owned a well-known dog kennel north of Randall.
In her remaining years, Betty enjoyed living in Salina, passing time with Duane playing and yelling BINGO, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her son, Lonnie, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gaylord Easter who died in infancy; and one great grandchild, Jaymie.
Betty is survived by her husband, Duane of the home; one daughter, Carla Cae Wurtz and her husband Robert of Lee's Summit, Missouri; one step-son, Travis McElroy and his wife Jessica of Tescott; two step-daughters, Ann Wheeler and Howard of Salina, and Dixie Fouch and her husband Terry of Las Vegas; one daughter-in-law, Linda Clawson; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, August 7, at the Randall Community Church with burial at Randall Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Randall Community Church or Ashby House of Salina. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit where the family will recieve friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
