Betty Louise Melton was born on August 3, 1932 near Glasco, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Madeline Crum Warner. She died on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 88.
She grew up in the Glasco area, where she attended school and graduated from Glasco High School in 1950.
On October 8, 1950, she was united in marriage with Russell "Don" Melton in the Glasco Christian Church. They lived north of Asherville, and four sons were born to this union. They later moved the family to Fullerton, California before returning to Beloit.
Betty enjoyed her flowers and gardening along with bird watching. She also loved going to dances and playing cards with friends at the Country Club.
She served on the Mitchell County Historical Museum board for many years, and was also involved with the Kansas Anthropology Association and Eastern Star.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2017; her son Mark in 1977; her parents; and her brother, Ivan.
She is survived by three sons, Steve and wife Judy, Dave and wife Judy, and Kent and wife Yvonne, all of Beloit; brother, Marvin Warner; 6 grandchildren, Melody (Jason) Huff, Mark (Amy) Melton, Julie (Shane) Olson, Valorie (Matt) Quiring, Derrick (Jessica) Melton, and Brett (Jennifer) Melton; 11 great grandchildren, Kellyn, Blakely, Ellie, Kanean, Riley, Lakyn, Bristol, Kendall, Colbie, Charlee, and Camilla; and many friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10 AM at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 5 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Nicol Home or Mitchell County Historical Museum.
