Betty Plush

July 12, 1928 — December 17, 2017

Glasco

Betty Jean Stone Plush was born July 12, 1928 in Salina, Kansas to Robert and Marjorie Amsbaugh Stone. She died Sunday, December 17, 2017 in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 89.

Betty moved to Concordia in 1935 and graduated from Concordia High School in 1946. Betty met her future husband Stanley Plush, while in high school and after her graduation she worked at the Cloud County Courthouse until Stanley returned from the Navy. They were married in Concordia on June 29, 1947. They lived in Glasco their entire married life, enjoying 62 years together when Stanley passed away in 2009. Seven children were born to this union – Susan, Mark, Judy, Wendy, Steven, Scott, and Matthew.

Betty was a homemaker, piemaker, kid raiser, and hug giver. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Betty and Stanley loved to travel to see their kids and grandkids. Betty was "Grandma" to not only her own, but to her grandkids' friends as well. She was known as "Grandma Betty" to many children in Glasco. It was common to hear them yell at her from a distance "hi Grandma Betty!"

Betty never knew a stranger and never forgot a face. She loved to visit and always had a hug and a kiss for everyone.

Betty joined the United Methodist Church when she moved to Glasco after her marriage. She was a faithful follower of the Lord, and rarely missed a Sunday crossing the street to services.

Surviving Betty are her children, Susan and husband Roger Miller of Portis, Mark and wife Joy of Kansas City, MO, Judy and husband Bill Wells of Glasco, Wendy and husband Mark Stanbrough of Emporia, Steve of Wichita, Scott of Salina, and Matt and wife Beth of Oak Harbor, WA; grandchildren, Mindy Miller, Jennifer Horn, Marla Gowin, Coy Wyatt, Brooke Balluch, Bethiany Tegtmeier, Leslie Stanbrough, Jenna Hill, Kale and Kolin Plush, Lauryn and Natalie Plush; great grandchildren, Jack, Will, and Brigit Horn, Avery Wyatt, Presley and Everley Balluch, Daisy and AJ Gowin, Renleigh Plush, Xerik Plush, and Eliza Tegtmeier. She was also survived by her sister Joan Swafford of Glasco, Kathy Stone of Wichita, and Jenelle Hans of Corpus Christi, TX.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley; and her precious great grandchild Charlie Horn.

Betty's love of life was contagious, she often said "it never hurts to be nice to people". Her loved for us all will be missed forever.
