Betty Jo Tiemann, age 70, passed away November 17th, 2017 at her home in Beloit,KS. Betty was born September 27th,1947 in Princeton, MO to Theodore and Lillian Yvonne McKee Melton. She grew up in Independence, MO until she was a Junior in high school, when the family then moved to Asherville, KS. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1965, afterwards attending Crum's Beauty School in Manhattan. During her lifetime, she was a beautician, as well as the owner and operator of Daylight Donut Shop in Beloit, and she enjoyed farming and gardening with her husband Lloyd.
She was first married to Roland Henry Brummer in 1966 to which her two sons, Mike and Mark, were born. The marriage was dissolved in 1986. On August 5th, 1991, Betty Jo married Lloyd Frederick Tiemann and they had 24 years together until Lloyd passed in April 2015.
Betty's proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was always there to help others whenever needed, whether it was a meal or just a listening ear and thoughtful advice. She was a volunteer at the Mitchell County Historical Society where she enjoyed studying genealogy and learning more about her family. She was an avid basketball and baseball fan and attended many local games. She also enjoyed following her grandchildren's many activities, whom she cared about so much. Betty's passion was helping others and she always enjoyed cooking, gardening, and genealogy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Lillian Yvonne Melton, as well as her husband Lloyd.
Those left behind to mourn her passing are her sons, Michael and wife Charissa Brummer, and Mark Brummer and his fiance Michele Clark; step-sons, Scott and wife Alice Tiemann, David and wife Peggy Tiemann; her brother Ray and wife Paula Melton; her grandchildren, Vanessa and husband Zachary Schwarz, Cole Brummer and Zachary Brummer; step-grandchildren, Kelsey and Kyle Tiemann, Cole and Cody Tiemann; her nephews, Darren and wife Lisa Melton, Bradley and wife Angela Melton and their families; and many cousins as well as her close friends, all of whom will dearly miss her smile and contagious laugh.
