Beverly Hobbs

Beverly J. Broadbent Hobbs was born on April 17, 1933, to Carl and Julia (Finney) Broadbent on the family farm south of Beloit. She had two siblings, brother Carldon and sister Neida Vonne.

She attended Laben 82 and Georgia 90 country schools and graduated from Beloit High School in 1951. She graduated from the NCKA Vo-Tech School in 1975 from the LPN (Licensed Practical Nursing) Department.

She married Daniel Thomas Hobbs Sr. on November 21, 1951, and they made their home in Lincoln, Kansas. A job opportunity took them to McPherson, Kansas, in 1956. In 1963, they moved back to Beloit to farm. To this union, two sons were born, Daniel Thomas and Carl Ray.

In 1981, they moved back to McPherson, where Beverly took care of elderly ladies in her home for 11 years before retirement. In 1992, they started traveling in their fifth-wheel camper. They spent winters in Texas and summers in Colorado. Due to health concerns, they moved back to Beloit in 2005. Dan passed away in 2012.

She loved to cook and bake. Pies were her specialty, especially raisin cream. Her chicken and noodles were a family favorite.

Beverly passed away on August 11, 2026, at the MCHHS Resident Care Center with family at her side. She had resided there since January 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Julia Broadbent; sister, Neida Vonne Zeek; brother, Carldon Broadbent; husband, Dan Hobbs Sr.; son, Carl Ray Hobbs; and grandson, Joel Dean Hobbs.

Left to mourn her passing are her son, Daniel Thomas Hobbs Jr. and wife Rita Dee Hobbs; five grandsons; one granddaughter; five great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services will be at 10 AM Monday, August 17 at the Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5 PM Sunday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice.
