Billy B. Bryant, the son of Austin and Ruth Fowler Bryant, was born April 8, 1928, at Haviland, Kansas. He died February 5, 2010, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 27 days.
Billy graduated from Haviland High School in 1946, and attended the University of Kansas, where he received his pharmacy degree in 1951. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Navy where he served as a communications and pharmacy officer during the Korean War. After his release from the Navy in 1954, he served as a pharmacist in Wichita, Haysville, Amarillo, Texas, and Beloit for fifty years until his retirement in 1998.
Billy was married to Leone Harris on August 21, 1949, at the Haviland Methodist Church, and one daughter and one son were born to that union. The couple were privileged to spend more than sixty years of married life together.
Billly was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the United Methodist Church, the VFW and the American Legion. He also served as an Assistant Cubmaster, helping with woodcarving projects and pinewood derby entries for the Cub Scouts. His favorite pastimes were woodworking, carving and playing Bridge.
Survivors include his wife, Leone of the home; a daughter, Rene Holmes and husband, John of Olathe and their children, Daniel and David; a son, Ward Bryant and wife, Christine of Joplin, Missouri, and their children, Morgan and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, February 8, at the Beloit United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to the church or the American Heart Association.
