Brian James Gengler was born in Beloit, Kansas, the fourth of five children to Noel E. and Josephine F. (Peters) Gengler. He attended St. John's and Beloit Elementary Schools and graduated from Beloit Jr.-Sr. High School. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Cloud County Community College where he majored in Education. He then majored in Math and Chemistry at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Brian lived in Holdrege, Nebraska where he worked at Becton-Dickinson. He was best known for his intelligence, sense of humor, quick wit, and an astounding memory. He enjoyed music and all forms of trivia. He loved to travel, read, and work puzzles.
Although Brian's health diminished in recent years, he was always learning and showed great patience when teaching others.
Brian died at the home of his father at the age of 46 years and twenty-eight days.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine F. (Peters) Gengler of Beloit.
He leaves behind his father, Noel E. Gengler of Beloit; sisters Cynthia L. Gengler and Theresa A. Gitchel of Wilcox, NE; Pamela J. DeWoody and husband James of Riverside, MO; one brother Thomas J. Gengler of Holdrege, NE; three nieces, one nephew; one great nephew and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be planned at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
