Bruce A. Kieffer, 72 died Thurday March 17, 2016, at the Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, KS. Bruce was the first of six children born to Anthony and Marguerite (Thompson) Kieffer at the Clay Center hospital in Clay Center, KS on August 22nd, 1943. He attended and graduated in 1961 from the Linn Rural High School in Linn Kansas.
As a young man he was enjoyed working on the family farm. He also enjoyed working on and maintaining cars, farm machinery anything with a motor. Farming was always in his heart, he loved nothing more than operating the combine during harvest.
After high school he worked at several auto body businesses working as a mechanic. In 1964 he moved to Cawker City and was employed as a mechanic at Waconda Motors. While at Waconda Motors he also worked as the service manager and in sales.
In 1985 he purchased The Wagon Wheel Supper Club. After 10 year in the restaurant business he sold and went to work for Waconda Boats and Motors in Glen Elder, Ks retiring from there in 2009.
On September 14th, 1964 Bruce was united in marriage to Carol Ann Grote. To this union three children were born, Denise, Bradley and Wayne. Later the marriage was dissolved.
In 1998 Bruce married Betty Craft and has since lived on a farm north west of Cawker City.
Bruce loved entertaining family and friends. One of the many highlights of the year was hosting 20 – 30 of his close friends and family, including his grandsons for the yearly November pheasant hunts. He had friends from Wisconsin to Arizona travel for this event.
Bruce leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife Betty of the home; daughter Denise Schoen and husband Stan of Cawker City, KS; son Bradley of Cawker City, KS and son Wayne and wife Karol of Hays, KS; 4 grandchildren Peyton and Carson Kieffer of Hays, KS, Makayla Kieffer of Mayetta, KS and John Schoen of Cawker City, KS. Sister Dorothy Lee of Clarksville, Kentucky; brothers Mark and wife Debbie of Wichita, KS, Lyle and wife Glenda of Minneapolis, KS, and Greg and wife Debbie of El Dorado, KS; one sister-in-law Eleanor Kieffer of Clifton, KS; step-daughters Allison and Marty Wolters of Portis, and Meridith and Marty Clark of Russell, KS; step grandchildren, Baylee, Brandt, Bretton and Blair Wolters, Miranda Ulrich and Maci Clark; and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Douglas Kieffer.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, March 22 at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 PM Monday at the Church. Memorials may be given to the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation or the Mitchell County EMS.
