Bruce Kevin McMillan, 69, of Glasco, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on January 10, 2026.

Bruce was born on October 14, 1956, at the Beloit Hospital, the son of Alan Edwin McMillan and Barbara Ann (Hopper) McMillan. He grew up in the area and graduated from Jewell High School in 1974. Following graduation, he attended NCKAVT School, beginning a lifelong career working with his hands.

Bruce was first employed as a mechanic at Fuller’s Chevrolet, later transitioning into auto body repair. He was known as one of the best around, and sought after by many to restore their favorite classic cars. He restored his own 1970 Chevy Nova that was later remodeled by his wife. He then restored a 1976 Chevy Corvette, which was a family favorite. He went on to work for Sunflower Manufacturing, where he held positions in several departments over the years. His final place of employment was Finn-Kool, where he proudly served as shop floor supervisor until his retirement, a role he truly enjoyed.

Something you might not know or expect about Bruce, is that he enjoyed painting, and he was very good at it. You’ll find several paintings of old buildings hanging around his house or background of this obituary.

Bruce loved to have a good time. He knew how to spend his time doing what he loved, with the people he loved. The grandkids, nieces, and nephews have endless memories hanging out at the farm in Randall, being pulled in the cart behind the mower by Bruce or Connie – and later running the mowers themselves, swimming in the pool, sitting by the campfire making a good s’more, and running around while grandpa worked in the shop. They had an absolute blast, and when occasionally they got a little rowdy, Connie would say “don’t make me get grandpa/Bruce to give you a spanking!”. They clearly weren’t very afraid, because whenever he would walk into a group of laughing kids running around and would say “Alright, who needs a spanking?” They all would raise their hand and scream “me, me” and line up for their turn.

Even though Bruce wasn’t an overly affectionate person, it was obvious to all that he loved his family fiercely, and would do anything for them. He was protective and could be called for help with anything at anytime.

He valued hard work and dedication to a job well done. He was meticulous in whatever project he found himself working on, and nothing was ever done half-heartedly. These values were instilled in those who had the opportunity to spend time working with him, whether it was at home or at work, around family, or co-workers.

On December 2, 1995, Bruce married Connie Liby, who survives him at their home in Glasco.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edwin McMillan; grandchildren Tristan McMillan, Rylan McMillan, and Brady McMillan; brother-in-laws Gary Liby and Matthew Motis; sister-in-law Carrie Liby; and nephew Jason Richardson.

Survivors include his wife, Connie McMillan of Glasco; sons Lee (Ingrid) McMillan, and Jerod (Sam) McMillan; sisters Deborah (Gary) Scott and Rhonda Motis; brothers William (Elesa) McMillan, David McMillan, brother in laws David Liby and Scott (Tracy Davis) Liby; sisters-in-law Becky (Chris) Nopens, Patty Darnall, and Jenny Liby; along with 15 grandchildren and 21 nieces and nephews.

Bruce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
