Cari Jeannine McGrath was born on November 19, 1978 in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Ed and Carolyn Isaacson Winebrenner. She died following a courageous battle on Friday, August 29, 2008 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City at the age of 29 years, 9 months, and 10 days.
Cari's family moved to Culver and she graduated from Tescott High School. Following graduation, she attended Independence Junior College before going to Ft. Hays State University, where she earned her degree in Sports and Recreation Management.
On August 4, 2001, she was united in marriage to Scott McGrath at the First Presbyterian Church in Salina, Kansas. Two children were born to this union.
After their marriage, Scott and Cari lived in Hays and Beloit before returning to Hays in 2006, where she worked as a prevention consultant for the Smoky Hill Foundation.
Cari was a member of the Culver United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Allen and Lillie Winebrenner and Jack and Kathryn Wynandts and Lester Isaacson; and her grandfather-in-law, Harry McGrath, Sr.
Cari is survived by her husband Scott of the home; two children, Benton Allen and Lilian Jean; her parents, Ed and Carolyn Winebrenner of Culver; one brother, Erick Winebrenner and his wife Jennifer of Salina; her mother and father in-law, Harry and Barb McGrath; a brother-in-law, David and his wife Amy; a sister-in-law, Melissa and her husband Sean; grandparents-in-law, Tom and Mary Ellis, and Nancy McGrath; two nephews, Daeton and Parker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 2, at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit. Memorials may be given to the Susan B. Komen Association, Tescott High School Scholarship Fund or the McGrath Family.
