Carl Edward Johnson of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Sidney, Nebraska died March 17, 2011 at the age of 86. Carl, son of Russell and Kathryn Berneking Johnson was born in Simpson, Kansas. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and proudly served as a B24 navigator flying out of England and Italy. After serving his country, Carl completed his formal education at Kansas State University. He was a respected and successful businessman who owned and operated the J&M Trucking Company for over 20 years. On June 10, 1944 he married Pauline Martin who survives. He also leaves son Michael (Suzanne) of Leucadia, California, daughter Mary Lou (Lee) Clark of Cary, North Carolina, son Jim of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter Karen Johnson of Aurora, Colorado; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Shirley Reser of Hutchinson, Kansas and brothers Ross (Jane) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Jerry (Beth) of Beloit, Kansas. Carl was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy and his brothers James and Olin. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Glasco, Kansas. Interment services for the ashes will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3, 2011 in the Glasco Cemetery with Steve Baughn officiating. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of the donor's choice.
