Carl Dale McElroy was born on May 4, 1921 to John and Mary Dale McElroy on the family farm near Randall, Kansas. He passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 93 years, three months and eighteen days.

Carl graduated from Randall Rural High School in the Class of 1938. On September 19, 1942 he married Opal Joy Rank in Concordia, Kansas. Two daughters Judy and Carol were born to this union of seventy-one years.

A lifetime resident of the Randall community, Carl was a hardworking farmer. His career as a farmer saw it all, beginning with a plow behind a horse and later using modern day tractors. He honored and respected God's land and treated it with care. In his younger years, he raised cattle. Carl retired from farming in about 2000 and moved from the family's homesteaded farm to a home in Randall. He loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

He was a member of the Randall Community Church.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, LaVern, and Norval McElroy, and two sisters Ruth Evert and Neva Clark.

Carl is survived by his wife Opal of the home; daughters Judy Zimmer of Randall, Carol Flinn and husband Larry of Lebanon, MO; five grandchildren Sandra Henningsen and husband Russ of Hays, KS, Shaun Kibbe and wife Sharon of Salina; Angela Dreher and husband Brian of Topeka, Jason Kibbe of Osborne, Jeremy Stover of Salina; two step grandchildren Stacey Schwartz and husband Todd of Georgia; Kelley DeMuth and husband Mark of Georgia; ten great-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, along with many other relatives and friends.

Pastor Dan Daniels of the Randall Community Church officiated at Funeral Services which were held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Randall Community Church. Interment was in the Randall Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church. McDonald Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
