Carl Wayne Schmidt, 62, died April 1, 2013. He was born November 28, 1950 to Donald and Connie Wyman Schmidt at Beloit, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Raymond Schmidt, sister Barbara Schmidt and sister Carol Fleming.
He is survived by his wife Linda Gilmour Schmidt of the home, his mother Connie Wyman Schmidt of Beloit; daughters Cristin Noll of Winchester, Kansas, Carissa Schmidt of Nashville, Tennessee, JuliAnn Graham of Guymon, Oklahoma, Jessica Schmidt of Tonganoxie, Kansas; stepson Jason
Green of Riverview, Florida; sisters JoAnn Schmidt-Hanson of Salina, Janice McDaniel of Wellington, Kansas and brothers Steve Schmidt of Glen Elder and Roger Schmidt of Russell, Kansas. He is survived by ten grandchildren Carl Tyler Noll, Christopher Noll, Drake Mathis, Antonio Rodriguez, Anna Graham, Halley Green, Anakin Rodriguez, Alice Graham, Valair Smith and Antitan Hesser. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
Carl graduated in 1969 from Jewell High School. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He farmed with his uncle Glen Schmidt near Ionia, Kansas for many years before retiring. He married Linda Gilmour on November 21, 1994. He left behind a legacy of love and memories for all who knew him.
Carl valued family and friends above all else. He loved to ride his Harley and was a diehard enthusiast. He was a talented craftsman and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved music, hunting, reading and animals. He was loved by children and often carried candy in his pocket to offer his grandchildren, nieces or nephews.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice or the Carl Schmidt Funeral Expense Fund.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Ionia United Methodist Church with Rod Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Ionia Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund or the charity of the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
