Carl F. Schultz was born on May 30, 1921 on the family farm north of Cawker City, Kansas, the son of Henry and Anna (Boeskool) Schultz. He died early Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 94 years, 9 months, and 16 days.
Carl grew up on the family farm and attended Liberty Rural School. After completing grade school, he helped on the farm and assisted his neighbors with their farm work.
In August of 1942, he entered the United States Army, taking basic training at Camp Barkley, Texas. He was assigned to the Medical Corp, and in 1943 his unit traveled to New York. From there they sailed to England on the Queen Mary, and he worked in a London hospital caring for the sick and wounded soldiers. In February 1946, Carl returned to the United States and was discharged. He then came back home, where he farmed and raised cattle in partnership with his brother Calvin.
Carl had a special bond with animals, and greatly loved his white cat Snowball. He also enjoyed reading and watching television, as well as visiting with his friends. He was a member of the Cawker City Baptist Church.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mildred, Matha, Lola Koster, and Ruth Koster; his brother Calvin; and his niece Brenda Jo (Koster) Dean.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Ron (Marsha) Koster, Randy (Chris) Koster, John Koster, Marla (Allan) Fisher, Deb (John) Thomas, and Jerry Dean; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be at 11 AM Saturday, March 19 at the Waconda Funeral Chapel in Cawker City followed by burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hilltop Lodge, Solomon Valley Hospice, or the Cawker City Senior Center.
