Carol Jean VanTilborg, the first of three children born to Kenneth and Hazel Roberts VanTilborg, was born October 7, 1940 on the family farm outside of Cawker City, Kansas.
She died Thursday, October 30, 2013 at the age of 73 in York, Nebraska.
Carol graduated from Cawker City High School in the Class of 1958. She had two younger brothers, Dale and Lee.
Carol married Duane Lyle Raney and they had two sons, David Lynn and Kevin Duane, and two daughters Connie Joann and Tammy Dee. Carol had nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, baking cakes, traveling and spending time with her family.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, youngest son Kevin, and one grandson James Zipse.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children David Raney and wife Linda of Alexandria, Nebraska, Connie Ward and husband Leland of York, Nebraska, Tammy Gabel and husband David of Waverly, Nebraska; two brothers Dale VanTilborg and wife Nancy of Abilene, Texas, Lee VanTilborg of York, Nebraska; nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild along with many relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 4, 2013 at the CAWKER CITY UNITED METHODIT CHURCH with Rev. Glenn Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the JBZ Foundation. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Sunday at the Waconda Funeral Chapel.
