Carolyn Sue Myers, beloved wife, mother, and community servant, passed away on December 16, 2025, in Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 79 after a fourteen-year battle with illness. Born on September 18, 1946, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Darrel and Mary Lou (Eibert) Clark, Carolyn's life was defined by her unwavering commitment to education, community, and family.
An alumna of Salina Central High School (1964), Carolyn also attended grade school in Topeka. She went on to earn her Education Degree in 3 1/2 years from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina (1968). There she met her future husband Bren and after nuptials and graduation they moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she took classes for continuing education at The Ohio State University. Her zeal for learning followed her throughout her life, as did her love for various hobbies and interests. Carolyn enjoyed crafts, shopping for and sending thoughtful cards, and collecting refrigerator magnets, Hummel figurines, and stuffed bears. A lover of classic mysteries, she found joy in reading and was an avid fan of watching "Jeopardy!" Notably, she enjoyed bowling for many years, bringing joy and camaraderie to those in her leagues. While she always made time for others, she saved time for herself during basketball season to watch the KU Jayhawks and their perennial march through the madness.
A dedicated educator, Carolyn spent her first years after receiving her degree teaching in an inner-city school in Columbus, Ohio, where she inspired countless students through her passion for learning and teaching. Following her time in education and relocating to Beloit, Kansas, she served as the office manager at Myers Optometry for over 30 years, a position that showcased her exceptional organizational skills and dedication to her career.
Carolyn’s faith played a significant role in her life. She was very active in the Beloit United Methodist Church, serving in numerous capacities. From teaching Sunday School and Bible School to participating in the United Methodist Women's group, her contributions enriched her congregation and fostered a deep sense of community among its members.
Carolyn took particular pride in her accomplishments outside of work and school. She served as team recorder, ran concessions, and served as the strength behind Beloit K-18 Baseball, where her involvement fostered connections and support within the local youth sports community. She operated “Mom’s Taxi”, driving the kids, friends, and parents around and about to games, tournaments, and other outings, and eventually found time to relax during the yearly vacation to Estes Park, Colorado, where hiking, shopping, dining out, and picnicking by Sprague Lake with some KFC would rejuvenate the soul.
In her personal life, Carolyn is survived by her husband, Bren, whom she met at Kansas Wesleyan University and married in June 1967. She is also survived by their sons: Chad, born in August 1968; Todd, born in December 1972, with his wife Jacque and children Bryce, Kennedy, Brooklyn, and Kensley; and youngest son Seth, born in May 1977, with his wife Hannah and the boys Levi and Noah. She is also survived by her three younger sisters: Kathleen (and Mick) Quinn; Jeanneen (and John) Morris; and Lisa Manley, and the many nieces and nephews from their issue. Carolyn's legacy will be cherished by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched through her compassionate and uplifting spirit.
A visitation/celebration of memories with family will take place from 1-3 PM Saturday, December 20 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice.
