Charles Elvin “Elvin” Cody, 88, of Beloit, Kansas, passed away March 14, 2026.
Elvin was born January 13, 1938, in Plant City, Florida, to Clayton and Vada Cody. He spent part of his childhood in Hartford, Connecticut, where he later shared many fond memories of growing up in the city. His children especially loved hearing his stories about skipping school as a young boy to spend the day at the movie theater, watching adventure films like Tarzan, Buck Rogers, and Bring ’Em Back Alive. He often laughed about how everything at the movies only cost a nickel in those days.
Later, his family moved to a farm near Long Lane, Missouri. It was there that he worked on the family farm and met his future wife, Georgia Lynch. The two built a life together and raised their family.
Elvin spent many years working as an over-the-road truck driver, a job that suited him well and allowed him to travel across much of the country before his retirement.
He was known as a quiet man until you got to know him. Once he started talking, however, he was a wonderful storyteller who could bring memories and adventures to life. Those who knew him also knew he could be a little stubborn at times, but that determination was simply part of the character that made him who he was.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Cody, and his daughter, Jessica Cody.
He is survived by his children, Charles Cody (Jennifer), Karen Nordhus (Jerry), and Rachel Weatherd (Danon); his six grandchildren, Lisa, Lake, Jake, Makenzee, Jared, and Sebastian; numerous great-grandchildren; his sisters, Irene Myers (Jim) and Ruby Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
Elvin will be remembered for his stories, his love of the open road, and the many memories he shared with those who loved him. The stories he loved to tell will continue to be shared by those who knew and loved him.
Private family services will be held.
