Charles (Chuck) Scott Shumway, 66, and U. S. Army Veteran, passed away Wednesday, March 22 at Northeastern Health System Hospital, Tahlequah, OK. Chuck was born June 11, 1950 in Wadsworth, OH to John E. and Helen B. Shumway. He was preceded in death by his father, John Evans Shumway. He is survived by his sons, Charles and Kristine (Eilert) Shumway, Christopher Shumway, and daughter Jamie Shumway, his mother, Helen Beaumont, his brothers, John and Linda Shumway, Michael Shumway, and sister, Cynthia Shumway.
Chuck grew up in Ohio, and Overland Park, Kansas where he completed high school and where he met his wife, Janice DeGroff. They were married in 1969 and Charles Scott Shumway, Jr. was Chuck's first son.
Chuck served in the U.S. Army from 1974 until 1978 in Seattle, WA where he married Paula Cameron. They had two children, Jamie, and Chris.
In 1980, Chuck began his truck driving career in the Midwest working for various companies and as an independent contractor. He married Paula Miller in 1990, and they settled in Oklahoma.
Chuck will be missed for his ready smile, love of humor, and willingness to help others.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Monday, March 27 at the McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund.
