Charles H. Wrench

November 6, 1939 — March 11, 2017

Charles Herman Wrench, the son of Harold Herman and Bertella Maude McKnight Wrench, was born at Salina, Kansas on November 6, 1939.

He departed this life of 77 years, four months and five days on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.

Charles lived his entire life in the Beloit area. He decided to join the working world at an early age. Mechanics and working with his hands came naturally to him, and for over thirty years he was a machinist at Sunflower Manufacturing Company. During his working career, he saw many changes and really did not want to retire.

Charles married Mildred Louise Hicks on December 12, 1967. Two children Marsha and Alfred were born to this union. Mildred died on February 21, 2003.

Besides working hard for his family, Charles greatly enjoyed leisure time. Attending auctions at the Zimmer Auction Palace and going to flea markets were among his favorite passions; seldom did he leave without adding another treasure to his collection. Charles enjoyed tinkering in his garage as well. He also enjoyed going fishing.

Charles served in the United States Army, was stationed in Germany and discharged on February 24, 1967.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one son Gary Wrench, his wife Mildred, and son-in-law James Dozier.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his children Marsha Dozier of Atchison, KS, Alfred Wrench of Beloit, KS; sisters Maxine Motes of Beloit, Vicki Garst of Topeka, Linda Enloe of Las Vegas, Nancy Lyne of Glasco; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren with one enroute.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service and burial of the ashes will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund.
