Charlotte L. Gentleman was born on March 26, 1926 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Reed L. and Anna L. Cubbison Maynard. She died late Thursday, November 12, 2009 at her home near Glen Elder, Kansas at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 17 days.
Charlotte grew up in Beloit, and attended Beloit High School, and graduated in the Class of 1944. Following graduation, she worked at the JCPenney store, as well as Greif Jewelers.
On May 2, 1954, she was united in marriage with Merton Eugene Gentleman. Two sons were born to this union.
Following their marriage, they lived in Glen Elder before moving to the family farm north of Glen Elder. She worked at the Glen Elder Senior Center, and also helped on the farm.
She was a member of the Glen Elder United Methodist Church, and also attended the Glen Elder Christian Church.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Duane and Donald Maynard; and a sister, Marian.
She is survived by her husband Gene of the home; two sons, Duane of Overland Park, and Lynn of Glen Elder; two grandchildren, Sarah and Nathan Gentleman; and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 18, at the Glen Elder Christian Church. Memorials may be given to the church. There will be no visitation-the body was cremated.
