May 4, 1948 — October 1, 2019

Asherville

Clarence Seely was born on May 4, 1948, in the Beloit Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.  He grew up on the family farm just south of Asherville.  He attended Asherville Grade School and Beloit High School graduating in 1966.  He was a National Merit Finalist during his senior year.  He then attended Kansas State University earning a degree in Psychology.

Clarence enjoyed running while at Beloit High School, qualifying for the Kansas Indoor Invitational Meet in the 880-yard race held on the K-State Campus in Ahearn Field House.  He also ran on the cross-country team.

Since his mother was a music teacher, he began his music career at age 4 with piano lessons.  These continued until High School when he began learning and playing guitar, especially bass guitar.  He played with a locally popular group Billy Bob and the Belaires which was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2016.  He enjoyed live music and attended many area concerts.

Clarence worked at Sunflower Manufacturing for many years and retired during a downturn in the agricultural equipment market.  He then helped his father and step mother by getting their mail, helping with household needs and furnishing transportation to appointments and shopping.

Clarence enjoyed pheasant and rabbit hunting and spent a great deal of time outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Katheryn Seely, by his step mother Leta Dameron, and his brother in law Ron Johnson.  He is survived by his sister Susan Johnson, his brother Alvin Seely, his nephew Jason Seely and wife Chelsea, his nephew James Seely and wife Joyce, his nephew Matthew Johnson, his great niece Sarah Seely, his great nephew Evan Seely, and his great nephew Owen Seely.
