Colleen Marie Sahlfeld

October 12, 1943 — May 17, 2025

Beloit

Colleen Sahlfeld, 81, of Beloit, Kansas, passed away with her loving family at her bedside on May 17, 2025, at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems, the same place where she devoted much of her life in service to others.

She was born on October 12, 1943, in Junction City, Kansas, to James Edwin and Johanna "Joan" Willett. Colleen dedicated 37 years of her career to Mitchell County Hospital, where she was known for her strong work ethic, compassion, and commitment to her community.

Colleen was married to Edwin Sahlfeld for 43 years before his passing. The two shared a love for golf and enjoyed many rounds together. When Ed headed to the casino, Colleen followed, embracing life's fun with a warm heart and playful spirit.

She is survived by her daughters, Belinda (Floyd) Robinson and Julie (Brian) Gates; grandchildren Nichole (Chad) Swartz, Kayla (Stevie) Garza, Miranda Robinson, Jared Hayes, Riley (KT) Gates, Parker (Karly) Gates, Avery Gates, and Tyson Gates; 9 great grandchildren; sisters Mary Lynne (Don) Bonneau and Kathy Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; parents, Ed and Joan Willett; her sister Donna Cady; her brother Jim Willett; and her niece Katie Tucker.

Colleen was involved in her community through her membership in St. John's Ladies' Guild, Beloit Country Club Ladies Golf, and a variety of card and game groups. She found joy and camaraderie in poker, pitch, pinochle, bunco, dominoes, LRC, farkle, and five crowns. She will be remembered for her spirited personality, her love of games, and her devotion to her faith, family, and friends.

One of Colleen's greatest joys was attending her grandchildren's many activities and sporting events. She was their biggest fan, always cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm. She also found great happiness on the golf course, especially during cherished ladies' golf trips with her friends. Even after retiring from playing golf, Colleen continued to join these outings, drawn not just by her love of the game, but by the lasting friendships and laughter they shared. Her devotion to her family, friends, and faith was matched by her loyalty to her beloved dog, Marley, who was her constant companion and source of comfort in her later years.

Colleen's family will cherish her memory and the legacy she leaves behind. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
