Connie Schmidt

Connie Virginia Wyman Schmidt was born on October 2, 1931 to Forrest and Naomi Terry Wyman in Beloit, Kansas. She died late Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Joy House in Oxford, Kansas at the age of 88.

She lived with her family in Glen Elder and Kensington until the 2 ^nd grade, when they moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas until she was 16. They later moved to the family farm north of Cawker City. She did babysitting and worked for farmers until she was married.

On June 18, 1949, she was united in marriage with Donald Schmidt. They were privileged to spend more than 54 years of marriage together until his death in April, 2004.

Connie enjoyed music, gardening, and horses, and greatly loved her family.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Barbara Schmidt and Carol Fleming; sons, an infant, Carl and Steve; grandson, Brad Fleming; and her half-brothers and sisters, Hamlin, Ruth, and Thelma.

Connie is survived by her son Roger of Ionia; daughters, JoAnn Schmidt of Salina and Janice McDaniel of Wellington; grandchildren, Charles Fleming, Chad Fleming, Travis Fleming, Ian McDaniel, Janessa Kizzar, Cristin Noll, Carissa Schmidt, Juli Ann Graham, Jessica Schmidt, Jennifer Smith, Kasey Trautman, Jill Schmidt, Taryn Bilbrey, Tanor Schmidt, and Madison Schmidt; many great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Rosie Dockstader and Linda Billings, both of Downs; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, November 1 at the Ionia Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with family present from 5-7 PM Thursday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Church.
