V. Coola File was born October 17, 1933 at Ionia, Kansas to Emanuel and Iness Carmickle Aronis, and was the granddaughter of Thomas and Doris Carmickle. She departed this life of 82 years early Thursday morning, March 31, 2016 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
Coola, as she was known and loved by all, grew up in Ionia. The daughter of a farmer Lindon Sample, she participated in 4H, winning several Blue Ribbons for cooking and played the piano well. While in high school, she was on the tennis team and also worked at the local telephone office. She graduated from Ionia High School. She continued her work with the telephone company and moved to Beloit where she was employed at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for seventeen years.
While in Beloit, Coola met Miles "Tuffy" File. They were married in First Presbyterian Church. Two beloved children David and Lisa were born to this union.
Coola later returned to school and enrolled at Marymount College in Salina. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1981. This milestone was the fulfillment of a lifetime ambition.
A kind, gracious person, Coola loved spending time with her family. Her grandson Collin was very special to her. She treasured time spent with him. Coola was an avid gardener with special focus on her roses. She enjoyed visiting and spending time with her friends and family.
Coola was a faithful member and elder of First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a very special aunt and uncle Josephine and Tony Aronis.
Survivors are her children David File of San Diego, California, Lisa Randel of Peoria, Arizona; two sisters Doris Kirgis of Beloit, Linda Topliff of Creston, Iowa; one grandchild Collin Randel of Peoria, Arizona, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home with burial following in the Ionia Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Arthritis Foundation or the Mitchell County Hospital Foundation. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday with the family receiving friends from 5:30 P.M.-6:30 P.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.
