Cora L. Hoffer

December 29, 1913 — September 7, 2008

Cora Lucile Hoffer, daughter of Elmer Franklin and Mary Pearl Zipse Hoffer, was born December 29, 1913 on a farm near Randall, Kansas and died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the age of 94 in Beloit, Kansas.

Cora attended a country school and lived on her parents' farm where she had a business of raising turkeys. Later, she moved with her family to Beloit and began working at the 24/66 restaurant where she was a waitress for 25 years.

Cora played the piano for her own enjoyment and for her church for many years. She loved the accordion and was an accomplished accordion player. Besides music, she spent many hours caring for her flowers and was awarded the Beloit Pride Award for the excellence of her flowers, yard upkeep and house decorations.

Besides working, Cora was a very caring person. She enjoyed spending hours calling on friends and those in nursing homes. Many in the Beloit community will long remember her for her long walks in the neighborhood.

Cora was a member of the Jewell Assembly of God.

Her parents preceded her in death. In addition, she was preceded in death by one brother W.E. Hoffer and one sister Gladys Hoffer.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her nieces Kay Getz of Albany, Georgia, Judith Foulke and husband Richard of McPherson, Kansas; several great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the McDonald Funeral Home with Pastor Arthur Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Cemetery near Jewell. Memorials may be given to the Jewell Assembly of God Church or the Mitchell County Hospital Long Trem Care Unit. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
