Crescentia "Chris" Gasper

Crescentia Ann Gasper was born on February 16, 1925, the oldest of 10 children, to Eugene and Theresa Becker Steichen in Tipton, Kansas. She died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 17 days.
Chris, as she was known, grew up and attended St. Boniface Grade School, graduated from Tipton High School, before attending Marymount College. She later worked at Hake Hardware in Tipton, and for several years in Topeka before her marriage.
She married Leo J. Gasper on September 8, 1947 in St. Boniface Church in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Mary Ann and her husband James. Six children were born to this union – Willa, John, Thomas, Steven, Janelle, and Roland.
They made their home on a farm 2 ½ miles south of Tipton. Besides farming and livestock, they had a large orchard for many years. Both Leo and Crescentia were active members of the parish and school organizations and councils.
They continued on the farm until Leo's death in April, 1999. And after 55 years on the farm, she moved in to Tipton.
In addition to her husband Leo, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Brummer and Loretta Gaunt; and two brothers, Eugene and Raymond.
She is survived by her children, Willa Kay of Beloit, John of Osborne, Thomas and wife Teresa of Tipton, Steven and wife Kathy of Salina, Janelle of Beloit, and Roland and wife Terri of Salina; four sisters, Mary Ann Thummel of Tipton, Helena Gasper of Tipton, Caroline Ellenz and husband Eugene of Tipton, and Eileen Steichen of Oroville, Washington; one brother, Charles and his wife Arlene Steichen of Placentia, California; 12 grandchildren, Ben and Jeff Gasper, and Stefanie Adam, Justin Fisher, Rachel Patterson and Andrew Gasper, Branson and Bayli Gasper, Austin and Emily Riddle, Nick Gasper, and Andrea Holt; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be at 10 AM Monday, December 7 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton. Visitation will be from 5 PM until a parish rosary service begins at 7 Sunday, December 6 at the Church. Memorials may be given to St. Boniface Catholic Church or Tipton Catholic High School.
