Daisy Davenport

Daisy J. Matthews Davenport, 92, of Hunter, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2026.

Daisy was born on February 10, 1934, in Arkansas. Throughout her life she called several places home, including Louisiana and California, before ultimately settling in Kansas, where she built a life centered on faith, family and hard work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Davenport; her son, Don Rohrig; and her grandson, Shane Rohrig.

Daisy is survived by her children, Bill Rohrig and Carol Anderson; her grandchildren, Misty Revenew, Dylan Rohrig, Nyssa Anderson, Joe Rohrig and Dora Rohrig; as well as many great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Family was always at the center of Daisy's life. While she worked throughout the years, including factory work when her children were young, bookkeeping for Ed's Electric and later providing home health care, her greatest devotion was to her family and home. She was a caring wife, mother and grandmother who took a genuine interest in the lives of those she loved and was always willing to listen.

Daisy was known for her strong spirit and competitive nature. Whether casting a fishing line, playing cards or enjoying games with family and friends, she loved a challenge and was never one to let someone else win easily. She especially enjoyed fishing with her husband, Ed, and often set her sights on out-fishing him whenever the opportunity arose. She also enjoyed crocheting and creating things with her hands, finding satisfaction in keeping busy and making something useful for those she loved.

Over the years, Daisy worked hard to help provide for her family and remained active in her community. She volunteered at the thrift shop in Beloit and enjoyed the friendships and connections she made there. Her faith was an important part of her life. She attended the Methodist Church in Hunter for many years and, in more recent years, worshiped at Calvary Baptist Church in Beloit.

Those who knew Daisy will remember a woman who could be both tough and nurturing, independent yet deeply caring. She valued family, spoke her mind and never left anyone guessing where they stood. She approached life with determination and strength. The lessons she taught, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the generations that follow.

A funeral service celebrating Daisy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 26, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Beloit, Kansas.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
