Dale Dewey Adams, son of Dewey and Opal (Jesse) Adams, was born on November 26, 1929 in rural Simpson, Kansas, and he passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, Kansas at the age of 84 years and 1 month.
Dale grew up in Coursen Grove, Kansas, attended rural grade school, and graduated from Beloit High School. In 1953, he married Nadine Marlene Black. Together they had 6 children. Dale and Nadine started their life on a farm in rural Simpson. In 1958, they moved their family to Courtland, Kansas. Dale was a farmer and business owner. He worked for 10 years for Maher Grain Company, bought the tank wagon in 1968, and then opened Adams Oil in 1978. He retired in 1992 and sold the service station.
He was a member of the Covenant Church in Courtland, and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals, Kansas State Wildcats, and the wide variety of sports teams in which his children and grandchildren participated.
Survivors include: his wife, Nadine; his children, James Dewey (J.D.) Adams and wife Bertha Jenkins, Manhattan, KS, Jana Marie Adams Hawley, Ph.D., Columbia, MO, Karla Jean Adams Brzon and husband Greg of Belleville, Krista Joan Adams Lough and husband Rick of Abilene, Leah Beth Adams Call of Junction City, and Karie Lea Adams Thull and husband Brent, Sedona, AZ; one sister, Erma Criswell, Beloit; one brother, Kenneth Adams and wife Leta of Simpson; 14 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Duane Adams; his daughter-in-law Mary Thomas Adams; his first wife Alice German Adams; and his daughter Roma Lea.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, January 3 at the Covenant Church in Courtland. Burial will take place at 2:30 PM Friday, January 3 in Greenmound Cemetery near Asherville. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday, January 2 at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Covenant Church-Stained Glass Project.
