Daniel Thomas Hobbs

February 8, 1929 — May 18, 2012

Daniel Thomas Hobbs Senior passed away at 83 years old on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas. He was born February 8, 1929 in Denmark, Kansas to Charlie and Emma Cook Hobbs.

Daniel was always passionate about the farm and country life. At a young age, he was out working on the family farm and hunting northwest of Lincoln, Kansas. He received his education from Colorado Springs, Colorado Church Academy. He was united in marriage to Beverly Jo Broadbent on November 21, 1951. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2011. They were blessed with two sons, Daniel Thomas Hobbs Jr. and Carl Ray Hobbs. Daniel was baptized into the Lord's family in 1980 by his son, Dan Jr.

Daniel never took his responsibilities of providing for his family lightly. He was a jack of al trades. He began working as an electrician, but moved up to different positions on through life including Coop Feed Store at Lincoln, semi-trick driver at Sprague Truck Line in McPherson, manager at High Quality Low Cost Station at McPherson, McNally's Implement in McPherson, manager at High Quality Low Cost station in Beloit, owner of Hobbs Market in Beloit. However, his favorite job was when he came home to Beloit and farmed with his brother in law, Carldon Broadbent. His biggest passion was working with his registered Angus Cattle. His cattle were known for being extremely tame and would flock to him when he came into the pasture.

After retiring, Dan and Beverly became snowbirds traveling the United States. They went from Kerrville, TX to Beloit, KS and to Gunnison, CO. While traveling, Dan met many life long friends and rekindled his love of fishing in many lakes around the three states. After doing this, they finally came home to reside in Beloit, KS.

Dan was known to be a quiet man; however, when he spoke people listened to whatever he had to say. He was a well known respected man who was a tremendous son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was a role model who set high standards. He allowed everyone to see how his grassroots and rustic lifestyle was a respectful and honest way of life.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, sister Doris, brothers Francis and Art, and grandson Joel Dean Hobbs.

He is survived by wife Beverly (Beloit), sister Dorabelle Hobbs (Chapman), son Dan and wife Rita Williams Hobbs (Beloit), son Carl and Dee Monty Hobbs (Springdale, AR), grandchildren Joshua Hobbs(Jetmore), Jeremiah and wife Lindsy Spain Hobbs (Haven), Karl Dawn Hobbs(Beloit), Brandon and wife Kim Fuller Hobb s(Orlando, Florida), Brett and wife Jolie Whitley Hobbs (Van Buren, AR), Brock Tyler Hobbs (Springdale, AR), and great grand children Hunter Thomas Hobbs(Haven) and Walker Dean Hobbs (Haven).
