Darlene G. Brown

January 30, 1949 — March 31, 2006

Darlene G. Brown was born on January 30, 1949 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Dr. Howard J. and Mabel C. Roberts Brown. She died Friday, March 31, 2006 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit at the age of 57 years, 2 months, and 1 day.
She spent her entire life in Beloit – attending Beloit Elementary School and Beloit High School.
Darlene was an avid photographer and brought her camera to all the family reunions, where she took many pictures of her relatives. She particularly enjoyed snapping shots of the youngest members of the family, and enjoyed sharing her pictures with her friends and relatives. She had a very good memory, as she could tell her family the names of all her cousins' children, which most of the cousins had trouble doing.
Her mother, Mabel, must have read stories from Golden Books to Darlene as a young child, as she really loved giving her supply of them to the youngest members of the family at Christmas.
Darlene participated in the Special Olympics for a number of years, and was very proud of her bowling medals that she won. She was also very active with the OCCK. One of her greatest pleasures was getting out with her mother and her Aunt Maxine to go visit family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and several aunts and uncles.
Darlene is survived by two aunts, Dorothy Hinkhouse of Stockton and Marjorie Dudley of Downs; 10 cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 8, at the McDonald Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Beloit.
