Darrell David Emmot was born September 12, 1937 to David Harry and Lila Pearl Dooley Emmot at Beloit, Kansas. He departed this life of 70 years, 11 months and 20 days Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit.
A lifelong resident of the Beloit area, Darrell graduated from Beloit High School in the Class of 1955.
On June 2, 1956, he married Carol Jean Studer at Zion Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children Kim, Craig, and Christine. They made their home in Beloit and after the untimely death of his parents, moved to their farm southwest of Beloit.
Darrell did several things during his life. He worked for Farmway COOP for several years, and later operated Beloit Skelly and Emmot Oil Company located at the corner of 8th and Mill Street. When satellite dishes became available, he established Emmot Sat-Com.
His greatest love though, was his used car dealership known as A&A Cars at the 24-14 junction. He took pride in offering quality used cars and trucks at affordable prices to his many customers. People trusted and relied upon Darrell for his honesty and soft-sell approach. He retired in December, 2005.
Darrell loved his family. He was always there for them and as his grandchildren grew, enjoyed attending their athletic events and was very proud of their scholastic achievements. He especially enjoyed finding them "just the right car" when they became of driving age. Darrell loved dogs and was very fond of his companions Buffy and later Bandit.
Darrell was a longtime member of Alcoholics Anonymous and Club 86. He was instrumental in getting the Sunday night group started. He helped and supported many people through the years. He was a District Committee Member of District #3.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carol in 2004.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his children Kim Fuller and husband Mark of Beloit, Craig Emmot of Beloit, Christine Anderson and husband Jeff of Bishop, CA. His three grandchildren Matthew Fuller and wife Megan of Omaha, NE, David Fuller and fiancée Jessica Stuhlsatz, Wichita, KS and Sarah Elmore and husband Daniel of Manhattan, KS along with many friends and relatives.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 5, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Club 86. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
