David Haskins

November 13, 1943 — July 3, 2012

David Lyle Haskins November 13, 1943 - July 3, 2012. David passed peacefully at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma while waiting for a heart transplant. David was born and raised in Beloit, Kansas and graduated from BHS in 1961 and from Ft. Hays State University in 1967. He was involved in banking and real estate and retired in 2009. While in Beloit, David was active in the Pheasants Forever Chapter and was one of the original group of people that started the Chautauqua Isle of Lights. David was a member of the Mt. Vernon Lodge #145 AF&AM and Midian Shrine. In recent years, his favorite activity involved spending time with his two grandchildren. He was an Episcopalian.
He was the only son and the youngest of three children born to Lyle and Josie Helmbrecht Haskins. David was married to Linda Jones on January 23, 1965 in Concordia, Kansas. In addition to Linda, David is survived by his son, Brian and wife Trinh, grandchildren, Nhi and Wren of Augusta, Kansas. His sister, Donna Gaskill, and husband Allan, of Superior, Nebraska also survives along with nephews John Linton and wife Angie of Exeter, Missouri; Richard Linton and wife Dara of Osborne; Mike Jones and wife Rebecca of Beloit; Mark Jones and wife Paula of Jamestown; and nieces Sherry Nelson and husband Brad of Jamestown; Brenda Wisbey and husband John of Glasco; and Marsha Anderson and husband Tony of Concordia; and his mother in law, Wila Jones of Beloit. He is also survived by other family members and friends who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Eric Haskins, his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Paul Linton, brother-in-law, Emmett Jones; and his father in law, Clarence "Bud" Jones.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 14 at McDonald Funeral Home followed by burial of the cremains in Scottsville Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30-7:30 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Eric Haskins Memorial Endowment at Kansas State University or Charity of the Donor's Choice.
