Delores Jean Magette was born on December 6, 1940, at Beloit, Kansas, to Victor P. and Elaine Remus Palen. She was the oldest of four children. She departed this life on December 29, 2011, at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Delores grew up on the family farm and attended the rural Lone Hill School near her home, followed by St. John's Catholic High School in Beloit, Kansas. Following graduation she attended Marymount College in Salina, Kansas.
On July 30, 1960 she was united in marriage to Louis Dean Magette at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton. To this union five children were born: David, Debra, Darnell, Darin, and Dale.
Delores enjoyed her time as a homemaker and with her children. After the children were grown and had left home she helped cook and prepare meals at Ringneck Ranch. She always had time for others and would put their needs first. Delores loved animals, especially the dogs throughout her life.
In her leisure time she enjoyed camping and boating with family and friends at the Waconda and Wilson Lakes. Following retirement she enjoyed traveling to Colorado and Arizona.
Delores was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar Society. She also participated in church functions in Arizona and devoted time daily to prayers. She always prayed for family and friends, including such favorite patron saints as St. Jude, St. Joseph, St. Peregrine, St. Lucy, and St. Anthony.
Delores is survived by her husband, Louis and five children, David Magette and Rhonda of Sylvan Grove, Deb Hyman and husband Bruce of Ellsworth, Darnell Winkel and husband Bill of Glen Elder, Darin Magette and wife Carrie of Paxico, and Dale Magette and fiancé Michelle of Estes Park, Colorado; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; two brothers, Bud Palen and wife Diane of Salina and Stan Palen and wife Barb of Glen Elder; and one sister, Dianne Budke and husband Mike of Tipton.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 7 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton followed by burial in St. Boniface Cemetery. A rosary service will be at 7:00 PM Friday at the church. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until the rosary service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Tipton Schools or Solomon Valley Hospice.
