She was dedicated to being a wife and mother. Her family was her pride and joy, considering it her greatest accomplishment and she remained actively involved in the lives of all the children and grandchildren.
She was especially fond of and proficient at piano, having enjoyed playing since starting at the age of 4. One of her fondest activities was playing the piano as the family members each chose their favorite Christmas Carol for her to play as they sang. Traditionally, the final song was her choice, being her favorite Silent Night.
While she was able, Carol always had a big garden. Tending the garden and canning were always in her summer activities. Having the kids help was sometimes a challenge but they always enjoyed the fruits of her labor.
She had many joyful hours of playing bridge with her friends in the Glen Elder and Cawker City area. Carol and John would spend many evenings playing bridge, laughing and bonding friendships. In her later years, she missed bridge, and always wished she could have continued.
