Dennis Edward McAlister, age 73, of Glasco, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on April 20, 2026.
He was born September 14, 1952 to the late Nathaniel “Mac” and Darlene (Sadler) McAlister in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Overland Park, Kansas. While attending Wichita State University on a track scholarship, Dennis met his adored wife of nearly 52 years, Stephanie Struble. They were married on May 25, 1974 in Glasco, Kansas.
Dennis found joy in many things in life–baseball, music, teaching, studying the Bible, theology and church history (for which he received an M.A. from Covenant Seminary in 1982). He had a long-held passion for the planting of faithful, gospel-centred churches both directly in his own work and through supporting the work of others, most recently in Manhattan and Salina PCA churches. Dennis loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, but most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His was a deep, thoughtful faith that was foundational to all things in his life and that we rejoice has now become sight.
In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by granddaughter, Darcy Lindhiem.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; four children, Sarah Peeples (Deryck) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nathan McAlister (Jill) of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, Elspeth Lindhiem (Oliver) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Kathleen McAlister of Dublin, Ireland; 12 grandchildren, Simeon, Aleezah, Lael, and Tobias Peeples; Lydia, Audrey, and Jake McAlister; Caleb, Ingrid, Alice, Jeremy, and Bridget Lindhiem; one sister, Patti Nelson (Jesse) of Sun City West, Arizona, and many more in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, April 27, 2026, at Glasco Bible Fellowship Church, with visitation from 9:30 AM until the service begins. Burial will follow in the Glasco City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dennis’s memory to Glasco Community Foundation or to the church planting efforts of the Heartland Presbytery (PCA). Checks payable to Heartland Presbytery can be mailed to 3312 Calvin Dr., Lawrence, KS 66049.
