Dennis A. Neifert was born May 17, 1938 to Austin N. and Bernadene Faye Trubey Neifert at the Beloit Community Hospital in Beloit, Kansas and died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his home in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
A native of Glen Elder, Kansas, Dennis graduated from Glen Elder High School and on June 7, 1959 married Sherry Lee Winkel at the Glen Elder Christian Church. Two children Lori Lee and Dean Austin Neifert were born to this union.
Dennis loved music and his country. At an early age, he showed an interest in music and studied trumpet with the late Paul Bohning in Beloit. Through Mr. Bohning's uncompromising instruction, Dennis achieved excellence. He continued studying at the US Naval Academy of Music and played in the United States Navy Band.
Dennis had a passion for helping people see. He worked in the contact lens industry for nearly 55 years. During his career, he lived in Salina, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas and Denver, Colorado. He worked for Duffens Contact Lens and Essilor Laboratories of America. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and over the fifty-five years he helped over 23,000 people see again.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Douglas Neifert.
Survivors are his wife Sherry of the home; two children Lori Lee Baughman (Monte) of Andover and Dean Neifert of the home; five grandchildren Kayli, Jordan, Aaron, Jared and Morgan; one great grandchild Mason. In addition, he is survived by many relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Prevention of the Blind Society. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the McDonald Funeral Home.
