Diana Beth Mcdaniel

Diana Beth McDaniel was born November 18, 1954 to Gerald Lee and Dorothy Belle Elliott Hesser in Concordia, Kansas. She departed this life unexpectedly Wednesday morning, December 19, 2007 at her home in Rossville, Kansas at the age of 53 years, one month, and one day.

A 1972 graduate of Concordia High School, Diana attended Emporia State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. She later received her Masters degree from Fort Hays State University.

On December 28, 1974, she was united in marriage to James Edwin McDaniel at Concordia, Kansas. In 1977, twin sons Chet Aaron and Heath Andrew died at birth and in 1978 one daughter Adrianne Rae and in 1979 a son Adam Jacob were born to this happy union.

In 1980, Diana and her family moved to Beloit where she began her distinguished teaching career at Beloit Jr-Sr High School and was currently teaching English and Journalism at the time of her death. She loved teaching, placed great emphasis on public speaking and was also teaching speech for Cloud County Community College. Always there for her students, Diana had high expectations and inspired her students to surpass them.

Aside from teaching, Diana's passion was her family. She cherished the role of mother and helped raise several of Jim's younger brothers and sisters. She enjoyed music, especially popular songs, country and western, and Christmas. Diana loved writing, had a keen wit and great sense of humor. She enjoyed her home and filled it with her collections of Santas, glass baskets, glass Victorian shoes, and many other treasures.

Her parents preceded her in death. In addition, she was preceded in death by two infant sons Chet and Heath.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her husband Jim of the home, one daughter Adrianne Rae Foltz of Holton, Kansas, one son Adam Jacob McDaniel and wife Jolie Sue of White City, Kansas; two sisters Eva Faires of Lake Dallas, Texas, Jan Mitchell of Norman, Oklahoma; and a host of many relatives, friends and the hearts of many former students.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Beloit with Pastor Ken Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Concordia. Memorials may be given to the Diana B. McDaniel Scholarship Fund. Visitation will be from 12PM - 8:00 PM Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 PM-7:30 PM. The casket will remain closed.
