Donald Carl Reling was born on November 13, 1945 in Beloit, the son of Harold LeRoy and Mildred Marie Kincheloe Reling passed from this life peacefully Wednesday Aug. 12, 2015 at the Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, KS. He married Sharon Kay Loyd, the love of his life when he was nineteen years old on a cold snowy night Feb. 13, 1965 at the Baptist Church in Cawker City. She was a sweet girl and the mother of his daughters, Pamila Kay and Paula Annette. She passed away Aug. 16, 2010.
To us he was always Donnie, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Donnie, and friend. The role he loved best was being a Grandpa to Levi Donald and Wyatt Joseph Brummer, granddaughter Katie Ratliff, and Chase Allen and Trey Alexander Turner.
He grew up on a farm northeast of town and told his Dad he didn't want to be a farmer but as it turned out his father and father-in-law were farmers, who he always helped when he could. To top it off he worked for Richardson Mfg. and Sunflower Mfg. for over forty years helping build farm equipment. When he was little he liked fire and was always striking matches so when he was older he became a fireman for the town of Cawker City. He did this until after he retired but still was interested in the fire department and his fireman friends.
He graduated from Cawker City High School with the class of 1964 and a class in welding at North Central Kansas Vo-tech.
Donnie was a quite man that loved to fish, loved to watch football games, baseball games, car races (watching Bryan Kincheloe's team) and going to watch his grandsons play football. In later years he loved to read so he spent many hours reading after he retired. Every Sunday he, Sharon and girls would come to his folks house and then to his sister Dorothy (also known as Dort's) house for Sunday dinner.
Donnie is survived by his daughters, Pamila and husband Bill Brummer, Paula and husband Darrin Wendlandt, grandsons Levi and Wyatt Brummer, granddaughter Katie Ratliff, grandsons Chase and Trey Turner, sister Dorothy, sisters-in-law, Linda and husband Bob French, Lois Loyd and fiancé Sam Decker, Marlene and husband Gary Gentry, aunts Celia Norton Kincheloe, Viola Kincheloe, nieces Jeannette Rodenbaugh and Patricia Wacker, cousins Michael Reling, Virginia Reling Young, Vivian Boxum Covey, Stephen Boxum, Lavone Boxum Geleynse, David Boxum, Daniel Reling, Dianna Reling Coad, Dennis Reling, David Reling, Kenneth Kincheloe, Marjorie Kincheloe Slaughter and Michael Kincheloe other relatives and many friends. Two of his faithful companions were his dogs Blackie and Bobber.
Preceding him were his parents Harold and Mildred Reling, mother and father in law Dennis Gene and Lois Bess Sharp Loyd, his wife Sharon, and his cousin Gail Kincheloe.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Saturday, August 15 at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit followed by burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cawker City. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Donald Reling Grandchildren's Educational Fund.
